Out of all the seasons of GOT, it’s from season 6 that I personally feel that the story really gets moving. Although in the previous seasons we had a lot of important incidents, it was more of a build up if you consider the instances that happened from this season onward. Also I had binge watched till Season 5, and it was from Season 6, that I actually waited and watched each episode at the edge of my seat. So here goes the important incidents and things to be remembered in Season 6-
Episode 1 : The Red Woman
Jon Snow’s corpse is found by Sir Davos and a few others and is taken inside to get some help, while Thorne assumes control Castle Black,
At Winterfell, Sansa and Theon escape and come across Ramsay’s men. But they are saved by Brienne and Podrick. Sansa then finally accepts Brienne’s service, and Brienne pledges her allegiance to Sansa.
In King’s Landing Jamie arrives with Myrcella’s dead body and promises Cersei that they will have their revenge. On the return journey, Myrcella’s betrothed, Trystane is killed and so is the Prince of Dorne upon finding out about Myrcella;’s death by Ellaria and her daughters.
In Mereen all the ships are burning and Jorah and Daario are still looking for Dany who was taken away by the Dothraki to Khal Moro (the new king of the Dothraki).
Arya, who has now lost her sight, lives on the streets as a beggar and is beaten up.
Towards the end of the episode, Melisandre removes her red necklace and she is revealed to be not the young woman she is, but rather an old crone. This further h=gives us glimpses into the powers of the God of Light and the Red priestesses who follow it.
Episode 2 : Home
Bran now visits a vision in the past where he sees a young Ned, Lyanna, Benjen and Hodor. (From here on Bran and his visions prove to be an integral part in the series).
Edd arrives back with Tormund and imprison the mutineers who killed Jon.
Tyrion realizes that Astapor and Yunkai have now resumed their practices of slavery. He then releases Dany’s dragons from their chains. (This is another integral scene as the dragons did not harm Tyrion and to an extent actually listened to them, because dragons only listen to their Mother or the Targaryen that controls them not anyone else. This maybe hints, something more important in Tyrion’s character).
In Braavos, Arya is again attacked by the Waif before she is taken back in by H’Ghar.
Lord Bolton’s wife gives birth to a son, who is now the true heir of Winterfell, unlike Ramsay who is an illegitimate son. This leads to Ramsay killing his father, his wife and the newborn child by feeding them to his hounds. (Ramsay’s character just keeps on hitting new levels of evil).
Brienne reveals to Sansa that Arya, who Sansa last saw when their father got imprisoned (in Season 1) is actually safe. Sansa then lets Theon return back to the Iron Islands. However at the Iron Islands, Theon’s father is killed by his uncle Euron in order to get the power of the Iron Islands.
Davos persuades Melisandre to resurrect Jon. She fails at first, but at the end of the episode she succeeds, with Jon gasping for breath ( I think the audience let out a huge sigh too, I mean how can you kill Jon Snow off?)
Episode 3 : Oathbreaker
Tarly on his way to his hometown reveals to Gilly that he wishes to leave Gilly and her son at his home, while he learns to be a maester.
In another vision of the past Bran sees his father, Ned Stark, and Meera’s father defeat the Kingsguard of Targaryen at the Tower of Joy in Dorne. As Ned climbs up the stairs hearing a scream, Bran calls him and Ned looks like he heard Bran. (This gives a few clues on how Bran’s powers and vision will work).
Varys discovers that The Sons of The Harpy that were causing all this trouble was funded by the masters from the three cities in Slaver’s Bay.
In King’s Landing. Tommen talks with the High Sparrow and Cersei and Jamie arrive at the small council meeting only to be insulted at by the Tyrell’s who now take part in the small council. Cersei seems to be having a new bodyguard, Gregor, who was resurrected back, but exactly to how he was.
Arya trains with the Waif and her sight is returned once she accepts herself as no-one just like the other members of The House of Black and White.
Lord Umber asks protection from the wildlings from Ramsay, in return of which he hands over Rickon and Osha.
Jon executes the mutineers and he leaves Castle Black in the hands of another while he renounces his Oath and leaves his role as a man of The Night’s Watch. His watch has now ended (This is something that is usually said when a member of the Night’s Watch dies, but here it’s after Jon dies, is resurrected and renounces his oath).
Episode 4 : Book of The Stranger
Sansa’s party arrives back at Castle Black and is reunited with Jon (Finally, the stuff she had to go through).
Tyrion meets up with the master’s and asks them to end slavery in a fixed period of time which angers the former slaves. Daario meanwhile finds out about Jorah’s greyscale disease.
In King’s Landing, Margerey gets to visit Loras, and Olenna and the others in the small council forget their differences and agree to help each other an plan an attack to overthrow the Sparrows once and for all.

In Winterfell Osha tries assassinating Ramsay and gets killed in the end. Ramsay send a letter stating that he has Rickon and that is Jon returns Sansa to him, then he will return Rickon. Sansa convinces Jon to march South for war against Ramsay.
Dany meets the Khals in Dosh Khaleen. After they refuse to serve her, she burns the place down, killing them. She however emerges in the flame, unharmed as the Unburnt. The Dothraki seeing this, kneel to her.
Episode 5 : The Door
Baelish has mobilized the forces of the Vale to go against Ramsay. Sansa is informed this and also that her uncle is gathering forces for help. However she refuses the help.
Jon and Sansa leave Castle Black to meet with the houses of the North and gain their support for their war against Ramsay.
Arya is given another chance to prove her loyalty by assigning her a task to kill Lady Crane, an actress.
Beyond the wall, Bran learns that the White walkers were created by the Children of the Forest as a means of protection by converting the first human into a whitewalker. ( At this point there is a very interesting theory that Bran, who can see visions and alter thins in the past, is actually The Night King. Also, the Bran who traveled across the ages may also be the famous person in the history of the Realm, Brandon the Builder, the person who made the wall).
In the Iron Islands, their uncle Euron ascends the throne even after confessing that he killed Balon, Yara and Theon then escape with the ships from the Iron Islands.
Dany finds out about Jorah’s greyscale and commands him to find a cure and return. Meanwhile in Mereen a red priestess arrives, and tells Tyrion and Varys that she supports Dany.
Bran now travels into his visions unaccompanied by the third eyed raven which causes him to get touched by the Night King. The protection around them then goes and they are attacked by the Night King and the whitewalkers.
The three eyes raven, some children of the tree and Hodor is killed in their escape. It is seen that Hodor was mentally impaired by Bran’s intervention in the time. This shows us a deeper extent into Bran’s powers. (This also supports the theory that Bran is in fact The Night King).
Episode 6 : Blood of my Blood
Meera and Bran struggle to escape while Bran is still stuck in his vision. The however are saved by a mysterious man.
Sam and Gilly arrive at his home. However his father insults Gilly as she is a wildling and Sam decides to take Gilly and little Sam (her baby) with him when he goes to become a Maester. While leaving he also takes his family’s ancestral Valyrian sword and leaves.
Arya warns Lady Crane of the assassination and she goes and takes back Needle. Waif gets permission from H’Ghar to kill Arya as she has again broken the rules of The House of Black and White.
Jamie attempts to rescue Margarey but he is shocked to see that Margery has repented to her sins and Tommen now has an alliance with the Faith. Tommen then orders Jamie to to help Walder Frey, who is holding Edmure Tully, hostage and to retake Riverrun.
Bran and Meera find that the man who saved them is none other than Bran;s Uncle Benjen, who went missing in Season 1. Benjen was almost going to be converted into a whitewalker, but The Children of the tree saved him using Dragonglass. He however cannot cross the Wall as he is half Whitewalker and the magic that binds won’t let him pass through.
Dany declares to the Dothraki that they will cross the narrow sea and conquer Westeros.

Brienne arrives in Riverrun and tries convincing Brynden to surrender but to no avail. Eventually he and the Tullies are killed, and Brienne and Podrick manage to escape.
Varys departs Mereen on a secret mission. The City of Mereen seems to be falling, but Dany arrives just in time to stop it.
Sandor kills the outlaws and Dondarrion, the leader of the Brotherhood, tells them that they were in fact renegades, and they try convincing Sandor to join the Brotherhood,
Arya is taken care of by Lady Crane who is later assassinated by The Waif. Arya then leads the Waif into a catacomb and removed the light and kills the Waif. She returns the Waif’s face to the House and declares that she is in fact, Arya Stark of Winterfell, and that she is going home.
Episode 9 : Battle of The Bastards
Dany meets with the slavers for a truce, which they refuse. Dany then mounts hr dragons and destroys the entire fleet of the masters. After the war, Theon and Yara meet with her, and agree to an alliance.
Near Winterfell, the Starks and the Boltons, meet on the field. Ramsay pretends to let Rickon free, but ends up killing him. In the battle, the Stark forces are overwhelmed by the Bolton’s but is saved in time by the Knight of the Vale, who responded to Sansa’s request for help. Ramsay tries to flee, but is captured, Jon beats up Ramsay and takes him prisoner and Sansa finally feeds him to his hounds. (This episode was primarily the war, but had a really well made, war sequence , some of the best that I have ever seen. This remains one of my favorite episodes to date. It was satisfying to see an end to Ramsay as well!)
Episode 10 : The Winds of Winter
Cersei does not attend her trial and prevents Tommen from going as well. Margarey feel suspicious and decides to leave the Sept but is stopped by The Faith. After this we see a exciting turn of events where Loras discovers a huge stash of wildfire (wildfire that the Mad King had stashed to blow up the city), rigged to explode. He is too late and it explodes, destroying the Sept of Baelor and everyone in it (a record number of character deaths in the series I believe).
Many other nobles, The Faith Militant and Pycelle are also killed. Tommen shocked at the events, commits suicide.
Varys, arrives at Dorne and makes an alliance with them supporting Dany.
Davos finds out about the death of Shireen and confronts Melisandre about the truth. Jon then banishes her from Winterfell.
The remaining houses of the North accept Jon, as the king in the north. Sansa does not let Baelish get too close with her either.
Meanwhile Walder Frey and his family are killed by Arya. The last thing Walder Frey sees is Arya looking at her and telling him ‘The Starks send their regards’.
Sam and Gilly arrive at the Citadel, to become a maester.
Bran then goes into another vision and realises that Jon was never Ned’s illegitimate son, but rather the son of Rhaeghar and Lyanna. At this point though, we do not hear what Lyanna has said to Ned, and Bran also believes at this point that the child Lyanna had was out of Rhaeghar kidnapping and raping her. (But this still proved a very famous theory of Jon and his parents).
Jamie returns to King’s Landing and finds Cersei being crowned Queen. Jamie, looks slightly disturbed.
Dany then leaves Slaver’s bay and leaves Daario and the second sons in charge, as she sails towards Westeros.
Things have finally started to come in motion and the episodes just seem to get better and better. We can finally see the long lost characters come together to bring the ending of the series closer. Click here to go to Season 7 .
